Feudum: A nuanced game of hand & resource management

Created by Mark Swanson

The Kickstarter campaign has come to an end, however, retail editions (at full MSRP) of Feudum and the expansions may be pre-ordered right here! You may also wait until the summer when the solo variant: Feudum: The Queen's Army will launch on Kickstarter. Rumor has it, there will be some special campaign bundles. As always, shipping stacks with multiple orders, so be sure to take advantage of the all-in-one accessory and/or game bundle options. Late Retailer Backers may email Mark directly at [email protected].

The Queen's Army SNEAK PEEK!
almost 7 years ago – Sat, Jul 15, 2017 at 12:05:04 AM

Before I reveal it to the rest of the world, I wanted to give YOU FINE FOLKS the first look at the Kickstarter Preview page for The Queen's Army!  Yes, it will be launching in less than 2 weeks!

Truth be told, without your earnest prompting and sincere interest, this would not have seen the light of day.  Thanks for all your encouragement. I look forward to your feedback as I finalize content!

Oh, and kindly share this preview link with your friends! (It really does help!)

This would be a great time for those who missed the Feudum KS to jump on board! Naturally, ONLY the original backers will enjoy the original limited-edition stretch goals.....but all will enjoy access to NEW Queen's Army-specific stretch goals along with some attractive reward bundles.  The Queen's Army rewards will obviously have a separate production schedule and will not ship until in the middle of 2018.

Finally, I will be at Gen Con 50!  (Booth 567).  My good friends from Sparks Games (another local publisher) and I will be running Feudum Demos (and I'll break out my prototype of the Queen's Army for anyone who is interested). : )

INSIDE THE BOX!
almost 7 years ago – Fri, Jul 14, 2017 at 12:01:21 AM

Hello folks!  I'm in heaven right now. The matte linen finishes, varnishes, textures, colors... It's all stunning! Panda and I just had an hour-long call poring over color accuracy, matte vs. gloss, electromagnetic coating and washes for the metal coins, well heights, etc. etc.!!

David assured me that the visible alignment imperfections and minor "burns" are due to the nature of a PPC (which uses a laser cut instead of the eventual die cut which is accurate to 1mm during mass production). Additionally, much of the PPC is assembled and cut by hand which is prone to human error. For example, the margins on the action cards are just a bit uneven, but this will all be solved by machine.

I will be scrutinizing the wooden pieces and the stretch goals later tonight (and will show more pictures soon). Here are some photos to feast on for now:

PPC....FINALLY!
almost 7 years ago – Wed, Jul 12, 2017 at 11:14:19 PM

Hi folks!

I won't bore you with the long story of how FedEx shipped my PPC to the wrong address, and how I had to drive to the FedEx warehouse (today)....  The good news is, the package is now in my house!  I will be scrutinizing the contents for Panda today....and I will post pics later today or tomorrow!  But, I thought I'd tease you with these. : )

If all goes well, we are still on schedule for November shipping to backers. (Some may arrive earlier in October).  Updated resin figures, and wooden components will arrive later, but I will show you everything else.

Folks, I cordially invite you to read the development journal for the upcoming solo variant, The Queen's Army!  My friends and co-developers J.R. Honeycutt and Brian Neff chronicled our adventures, and I think you will enjoy.

When I get a better handle on when the KS will actually launch, I will certainly let you know. (Also, I'll make sure to give you access to the Kickstarter preview page so you can give me awesome feedback!) : )

Pre-Production Copy (PPC) in the works!
almost 7 years ago – Sun, Jun 25, 2017 at 11:55:59 PM

Hello folks,

David Lipman from Panda assures me that Justin and I will be seeing a full color pre-production copy (PPC) for the base game (Feudum) and all expansions (Windmills & Catapults, Seals & Sirens, Alter Ego, and Squirrels & Conifers) very soon!

All digital files and component specifications have been collected by Panda's production facility (including English, German and French rulebooks and reference cards).

As soon as I receive the PPC's, I will upload some photos of them, so you can see the boxes, cards, boards and all components in their respective gloss, matte, linen and aqueous-coated finishes! It will be a glorious site.  If all goes well, I will bring the PPC to Gen Con 50 in August for anyone that wants to kick the tires. : )

As some of you know, I went to GAMA in Las Vegas to gauge distributor interest for the retail version (no stretch goals), and there is definitely lots interest. I must decide on a total print run soon. My plan is to devote nearly all of the funds raised (after expenses) for a generous first print run. This is tricky as there will be no "big box" retail version, meaning I will be printing the base game along will four separate expansions, which all adds up fairly quickly.

Meanwhile, I am still gearing up for the much demanded solo variant, The Queen's Army! I was quite pleased that a significant percentage of you expressed sincere interest in this expansion on the Backerkit survey, and it is progressing very nicely! I will post more about it next week, I promise!  If you absolutely can't wait, I uploaded The Queen's Army box art on Board Game Geek and there is a early review by a fine fella named Aaron that I met at Geekway to the West in Saint Louis!

In the meantime, here's a peak at the 3mm and 2mm punchboard sheets below!
